History

The need for some form of formal education was increasing by around 1864. It was important to build an infrastructure. By the year 1893, they were unsure where to place the school. It had moved to a few different locations and the school had moved back to premises within the synagogue complex at Engineer Lane. With the help of the Crown Land Office and the recommendations of the commissioner of the Crown Properties, a lease of 21 years was granted. On 3rd September 1895, members of the Jewish Community laid the foundation stone of the Hebrew School in a ceremony officiated by the Rabbi of Gibraltar Rafael Haim Moshe Benaim. The architect was Mr Samuel Levy. The actual construction of the building took over 3 years.

The education of our children is our most important priority so it starts from the youngest age possible.
